Very easy read. I finished this book in one day. It took me about 3-4 hours. I am a big fan of Jimmy Evans and have listened to a vast amount of his preachings not to mention attending a Bible study group that covered his Marriage on the Rock study. That being said I feel this book is a dense, compilation of things I've already heard from him in his sermons and his Marriage on the Rock study. In a way this is disappointing because I expected to get something fresh from the book. On the other hand some things are worth reading again. I found the chapters on conflict resolution and shared vision and purpose quite helpful. I also thought the q & a section was a very thoughtful addition to the book.Being in my mid-thirties I recently started seeing a guy from church and so most of my interest in this book stemmed from wanting to learn more about dating. The section on dating was ok. The intentional dating and red flags chapters were fine. I just felt that the book lacked meat. It was very basic.
I can see the good and the bad in this book and how it may be a great help to some and just a refresher for others. My advice is to listen to some of his sermons if you want the real deal. In my opinion, he is an awesome preacher and this book does no justice in displaying his great speaking ability, his warm humor and his zeal for strong marriages and families.

This book is spot-on! But what I wish was mentioned was in my personal experience, I've been told that if you haven't been married before, it's dangerous to consider marrying a divorced person because you may be considered an adulteress because the other person is still married to the first spouse in the eyes of God. Was wondering if that's true.
Otherwise, I will for sure be rereading this book.
Great book. Wonderful advice. Follows scripture. Everyone single and looking for the right mate should read it.
Although I have a lot of fears about dating, I am very grateful for the wisdom this book has to offer. I feel more knowledgeable and better prepared for dating.
I'm not dating anybody, but I definitely feel more prepared. For me it is particularly insightful in being realistic about "the list".

Jimmy and Karen Evans know what they are talking about. I purchased this book for my daughter, who is questioning if her current relationship is
in line with the life God has in mind for her. After all, the ""right one", makes all the difference in our lives.
